PRESTIGE H2O / WATER, UNDERSTOOD
Home Water Testing in Central Florida
Begin with the water source and the concern: hardness testing supports softener sizing, while other questions may require a laboratory panel. Keep household results separate from utility reports.
A useful test starts with a question
White deposits, sediment, taste and an identified contaminant are different concerns. Tell the person taking the sample what you want to understand and whether the source is public water or a private well. Ask what the test measures and what it cannot establish.
- Hardness: record the value, units and sampling point.
- Other concerns: ask for an appropriate laboratory method and panel.
- Existing treatment: distinguish incoming water from treated output.

What to keep with the results
A result without context is difficult to use. Record the date, source, sample location, method and units. If a proposal is based on the test, ask the provider to explain the connection between each finding and the proposed treatment stage.
- Keep a copy rather than a verbal summary.
- Ask about sampling instructions before collecting water.
- Document existing equipment and any recent service.
Utility context and household evidence
A Consumer Confidence Report describes a named public supply within its reporting period. It helps identify source context, but it does not replace a test at your home. The ZIP lookup asks you to confirm the supplier; it cannot choose a system from an address alone.

Before booking an assessment
Confirm the property address, source, tests included and any charges before scheduling. Ask whether the visit provides a written result and an itemized proposal. Prestige starts with an in-home water analysis; ask which measurements it includes and whether a laboratory test would better answer your concern.
Questions and answers
Does a TDS reading replace a hardness test?
No. Total dissolved solids and hardness measure different things. A handheld meter reading does not identify each constituent or provide a complete treatment recommendation.
Should I use the utility report for a private well?
No. A private well requires evidence specific to its source and appropriate sampling guidance.
