PRESTIGE H2O / WATER, UNDERSTOOD
Water treatment questions, answered clearly
Start a water-treatment decision with your water source, the concern you want to address and relevant evidence. Then compare equipment against that goal and review installation and ongoing care. These answers guide the next question; confirm availability at your address when you contact Prestige.
Choose the question you need to resolve
Use the service guides for treatment purpose, equipment guides for model-selection questions and ownership resources for maintenance records. Keeping those tasks separate helps prevent buying a system before the problem is defined.
Keep a useful consultation folder
Prepare the information that makes the next conversation specific.
- Water source or utility name
- Full test report or applicable utility report
- The concern and where you notice it
- Existing treatment model and manual, if present
- Questions about the proposed equipment and care
Check business details before booking
Ask Prestige H2O to confirm that your address is served, which equipment is proposed and what the installation includes. Request an in-home water analysis with the form on the contact page, or call (689) 399-2019.
Questions and answers
What does a water softener actually do?
It swaps the calcium and magnesium that make water hard for sodium, using a tank of resin beads at the point of entry. Every tap downstream gets softened water. It treats hardness; it is not a purifier.
Do I need one in Central Florida?
Living in Central Florida does not measure your incoming hardness or household demand. Start with a dated hardness result and the required service flow before choosing a softener.
Will it remove the scale that is already in my pipes and water heater?
Softening reduces incoming hardness and can limit new hardness deposits. It does not instantly remove existing scale; evaluate the current condition of pipes, fixtures and appliances separately.
What is the difference between softening and reverse osmosis?
Softening treats hardness for the whole home. Reverse osmosis reduces dissolved solids for the water you drink and serves one faucet under the kitchen sink. A home can use both.
How long does installation take?
That depends on where the water enters your home and the cabinet under your sink. The proposal states the plan and the timing for your house rather than a generic number.
How is the system sized?
Water-softener sizing considers measured hardness, household use, peak service flow and regeneration settings. An advertised grain capacity alone is not a complete selection method. Ask how the proposed configuration meets those requirements.
What upkeep does it need?
Keeping the brine tank stocked with salt and replacing the reverse osmosis filters on their schedule. The proposal lists the intervals for the installed equipment.
What does it cost?
Pricing is quoted after the water analysis, in writing, with the equipment and the installed scope spelled out. Nothing is priced from a web page.
Do you serve my home?
Prestige’s stated territory covers Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Brevard, Volusia, Flagler, Sumter counties, with Sumter reaching The Villages. Confirm the actual property address before scheduling. Marion County and Ocala are outside the current area.
Does a water softener remove chlorine?
Hardness reduction does not establish chlorine reduction. A proposed combination system needs separate documented filtration performance for the exact equipment and configuration.
How is a water softener sized?
Sizing considers measured hardness, daily water use, peak service flow and regeneration settings. A bedroom count or advertised grain capacity alone is not a complete selection method.
What ongoing care should I ask about?
Ask about salt replenishment, controller settings, bypass operation, drain requirements, any pretreatment and the manufacturer's care schedule for the selected model.
Will softening instantly remove existing scale?
Do not expect an immediate reversal of existing deposits. Discuss the current condition of fixtures and appliances separately from the system's intended reduction of incoming hardness.
Does whole-home filtration also soften water?
Not automatically. A filter and an ion-exchange softener serve different purposes. A combined system must document what each stage does rather than relying on the phrase whole-home treatment.
How do I verify a filtration claim?
Match the complete model designation to the performance data sheet and relevant certification listing. Read the individual reduction claims, capacity and test conditions, not just a standard number.
How often do filters need replacement?
There is no universal replacement interval. Use the selected manufacturer's requirements, treated volume, water conditions and any operating indicators specified for that model.
Is an under-sink filter the same as reverse osmosis?
No. Under-sink describes where equipment is installed. The system may use carbon filtration, a reverse-osmosis membrane or several stages. Read the exact configuration.
Can a drinking-water system replace whole-home treatment?
A point-of-use system addresses its designated outlet. It does not establish treatment at showers, laundry fixtures or other outlets elsewhere in the house.
What should a reverse-osmosis proposal include?
Ask for the model and performance sheet, membrane and filter replacement schedule, production and storage details, drain connection, efficiency information and installation scope.
Can I choose well treatment from appearance alone?
Color, staining or odor can be useful observations, but they do not identify every substance or establish a complete treatment plan. Discuss an appropriate test panel with a qualified laboratory or local adviser.
Does softening make private-well water microbiologically safe?
No such conclusion follows from hardness reduction. Potential microbial concerns require appropriate testing and qualified guidance; do not treat a softener as disinfection.
Does a municipal water report describe my private well?
No. A public utility's report describes that public supply within its reporting scope. A private well needs evidence specific to that source.
Does a TDS reading replace a hardness test?
No. Total dissolved solids and hardness measure different things. A handheld meter reading does not identify each constituent or provide a complete treatment recommendation.
Should I use the utility report for a private well?
No. A private well requires evidence specific to its source and appropriate sampling guidance.
Will a softener solve a taste concern?
Hardness reduction alone does not establish taste or odor reduction. Ask for evidence for the proposed filtration stage and the actual concern.
