Everyday products, bought every month

The worksheet lists the same items Prestige specialists go through at the kitchen table: cleaning products, laundry products, personal-care products and bottled water. These costs repeat. Adding them up shows what the household spends over the years, not only this month.

Why hard water belongs in this conversation

Water hardness comes mainly from dissolved calcium and magnesium. The U.S. Geological Survey explains that hard water reacts with soap, so it does not lather as easily and it takes more soap and detergent to do the same washing. How much your water affects each product depends on its measured hardness, so this worksheet does not estimate any change.

Bottled water and a drinking-water faucet

Bottled water is a cost many homes buy for drinking. An under-sink reverse osmosis system supplies drinking water at its own faucet, so for drinking water it can take the place of buying bottles. Ask about the exact system, its faucet and its filter replacement schedule at your analysis.

What the totals mean

The totals are what you spend, based on the amounts you enter: the monthly figure multiplied by 12, 60 and 120 months. They are not a quote and not a promise of any reduction. Bring this number to your in-home water analysis. Your Prestige specialist will show you which of these your water affects.

Questions and answers

How do I count something I buy every few months?

Divide the price by the number of months it lasts. A bottle that costs 12 dollars and lasts three months is 4 dollars a month.

Does Prestige H2O keep what I enter?

Your entries stay in this browser on this device. They are sent to Prestige H2O only if you request an in-home water analysis with the form on this page, so your specialist can see them.

Is the total an estimate of what I would save?

No. The totals show what your household spends on these products, from the amounts you enter. Which of them your water affects depends on your water and your household, which is what the in-home analysis looks at.
